1. NATIONAL ANTHEM
This is my favorite building in Tampa - the Rivergate Tower. I’m writing this post from his 9th floor. (He has a total of 31.)
Ol’ Riv was constructed in 1988 for $155m. After being repeatedly sold and bought for 13 years, he was purchased in 2011 in a foreclosure sale for $22m. 515,965 “rentable” square feet. That’s about 42 Amurrican bucks per square foot. The elevators are a little wonky, the grounds immediately surrounding the building are in more-than-a-little disarray, but he keeps on truckin’. Rivergate knows he’s cheap. He knows he’s a product of the unsustainable economic boom of the 80s. He knows other taller, less-vacant skyscrapers make fun of him.
But here he is, lookin’ awesome.
The Rivergate Tower - my national anthem.
So I was just listening to Thomas Newman’s theme to The Newsroom and realized that it would flow perfectly into “Born to Die” and then I made these 15 seconds of garbage.
Um, do you think of buyin’ me lots of diamonds?
