Do you realize that these two double features at Film Forum may be the things I’m most looking forward to this summer? Have you seen any of these movies? Did you know three of them star Rock Hudson? They’re the best movies.

Oh my GOD you guys, Film Forum is showing my four favorite Douglas Sirk movies this summer and I’m FREAKING OUT about it because I’m a walking cliche.

So I got Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend” video to sync up kind of well with the dance scene in Douglas Sirk’s “Written on the Wind” and I’m kind of freaking out about it. OK, it’s not great but it’s something.

In case you weren’t aware, the best trailers were made in the 50s.
Currently watching Douglas Sirk’s Battle Hymn, starring Rock Hudson, on instant.

One of my favorite scenes from one of Douglas Sirk’s best - Written on the Wind - in which the she’s-slept-with-the-entire-town whatever-whatever-I-do-what-I-want daughter of the sympathetic oil tycoon dances like a maniac in her bedroom as the disappointed father walks up the stairs, eventually losing his grip and tumbling to a death that makes Rock Hudson and Lauren Bacall ham it up like they’re trying to get the attention of the same guy.
